About Eczema
Eczema is very common and sometimes referred to as atopic dermatitis. It’s so common that the month of October is labeled as Eczema Awareness Month.
Eczema is usually itchy inflammation of the skin. The skin typically appears red, itchy and scaly, similar to a rash. It usually develops in early childhood and the rashes typically appear on the arms and behind the knees, but can appear anywhere.
Triggers that could cause eczema flares include aeroallergens, like dust mites and pollen; foods, especially eggs, milk, peanuts and wheat; or clothing, especially wool.
Flares may be caused by stress and are more common in winter and after removing clothes.
Some common practices include avoiding soap or other irritants. Certain creams or ointments may provide relief from the itching.
Here at MedRock pharmacy we compound several different topical medications to help treat and soothe eczema.
